What does your software really cost over five years?

The project price sits in bold on the quote. The run-rate, what you pay for it year after year, is nowhere on a single line. Enter your own figures and see your five-year run-rate appear at once.

Your five-year run-rate

Total cost over five years

€ 478.532

Of which licences: € 313.532 (66%)

Cost per year

  • Jaar 1€ 81.000
  • Jaar 2€ 87.432
  • Jaar 3€ 94.726
  • Jaar 4€ 102.997
  • Jaar 5€ 112.377

In year 5 you pay € 79.377 in licences, against € 48.000 in year 1. That is 65% more, mainly because the cost is tied to the number of users rather than to usage.

A platform you own decouples that cost from the number of users: you then pay for growth in infrastructure, not in seats. What that means for you depends on your figures.

How we calculate

The calculation is deliberately simple and transparent. Per year we add up:

  • Licences: the number of users, growing each year by the percentage you entered, times the licence cost per user, which rises each year by your price increase.
  • Infrastructure: your monthly amount times twelve.
  • Maintenance and support: your yearly amount.

We add up five years to reach your run-rate. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, we store or send nothing.

Frequently asked questions

About this calculator

Why five years?

Software rarely lasts a single year. Over five years it becomes clear what a licence model really costs, because the cost stacks up with every user and every price increase. More on this in the run-rate, not the project price.

Are my figures stored?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored, sent or shared.

How do I get a more precise picture?

This tool uses estimates you enter yourself. An IT FinOps audit measures your run-rate against your real invoices and usage, with a baseline your finance team co-signs.
